The New Zealand Salmon Anglers Association held the Waimakariri Salmon Fishing Competition on Saturday. The day started cold and windy but by mid-morning the wind had eased making it bearable
Brett & Bruce were down at the river catching up with some fisherman along with Tony from the Salmon Anglers Association & Rasmus from Fish & Game North Canterbury. Tony was happy with the 165 entries including 30 Juniors. It's good to see the young guys and girls getting out there and giving it a crack.
The first fish weighed in was caught at Macintosh’s on day break and pulled 4.5kg on the scales. This Anglers Grandson later caught a bigger fish and took out the Junior Competition taking home a new Reel thanks to the team at Hunting & Fishing.
It was good to see so many people out there on the river including a good number of young guns.
