We are thrilled to bring you our first company blog in a while, and we are excited to announce that this will be the first of many monthly updates on our activities and plans.
In 2023, we have been hard at work, spearheading initiatives to enhance your live streaming experience. Brett and Nigel, have been working tirelessly on expanding our camera base. We are pleased to inform you that a new camera is in the works at the scenic Hurunui mouth. The equipment is currently under development, and we are on track to have this camera up and running by September. This addition we hope will be extremely beneficial to our users and was one we have had a large number of recommendations for. We are wanting to get another camera up this year so please let us know your suggestions. Contributing to Conservation Efforts As he does every year, Brett ventured into the spawning grounds to work on spawn counts, providing crucial data to Fish and Game. These counts play a vital role in understanding and safeguarding the well-being of our rivers and the fish that inhabit them. Brett's passion for the conditions of our rivers and their inhabitants is truly commendable, and we are proud to support his efforts.
We all know the Canterbury rivers experienced some incredible flood events last weekend, and we made every effort to document these occurrences. While the rivers witnessed remarkable flows, we are pleased to report that the water levels did not reach the devastating heights seen in 2021, which caused significant damage to the region. Our video of the Ashburton River during the flood garnered immense attention, amassing over 160,000 views! Moreover, we are incredibly proud to have been mentioned on stuff.co.nz
Firstly, we are delighted to collaborate with Hunting and Fishing Tower Junction before the season opens. As some of you will know we have a designated OA TV in the fishing section showing off the live streams in store. We really appreciate the support from Ballingers H&F. We are planning to host an Outdoor Access BBQ at the store before the season opens so that you can grab some free food before heading in and getting your new kit for the season. Secondly, Nigel has been working with JBNZ (Jet Boating New Zealand) on a new safety video series for Jet Boaters. Safety is of utmost importance to us, and we believe in promoting responsible and secure outdoor experiences. Recent accidents involving jetboaters have underscored the importance of safety reminders, and we are proud to be part of this initiative to raise awareness and ensure safer boating practices.
As we move forward in 2023, we want to thank each and every one of you for your unwavering support and enthusiasm. Your passion for the outdoors and nature fuels our drive to keep pushing boundaries and creating an unparalleled live streaming experience for you. We are committed to making Outdoor Access the go-to platform for witnessing the beauty of Canterbury's rivers and lakes and a purpose built planning tool. While fostering a sense of community and environmental consciousness. With new cameras on the horizon, exciting collaborations, and safety initiatives, we have a promising year ahead. Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on this journey together. And as always, feel free to share your thoughts, ideas, and feedback with us. We are here because of you, and your input matters. Keep track of what's happening on the rivers and what we are up to on our Facebook page! Happy streaming and exploring! Nigel Cromie
